I am a student in college at Ashford University going for my Associates in Health and Human Services as a base for my goal being a pediatrician. I have been a caregiver for about 7 yrs. A lot of my friends had kids in high school and since I did not have a job or kid at the time, I watched all their kids after school and on weekends while they went to work. The people whose children I sit for now are my 2 nieces, one just turned 3 and the other was just born. They are both fill of energy and sure are a handful but I enjoy watching them and helping my 3 yr old with her alphabet and colors. As a whole, the children I have babysat are anywhere from newborn-4 yrs. Occasionally I will watch children who are in the 6-8yr old range. I have a son of my own who is sixteen months old and always on the go. His favorite games are the flash card games that I play with him to teach him colors, shapes, etc. He watches the Your Baby Can Read program, and I have no problem involving the children I babysit in learning time. Unfortunately with the economy, I have no car anymore so I would be babysitting from my home. My home is smoke and alcohol free and 100% baby safe.
