Babysitter in Lakewood, CO 80228 - Ashley H.
As a recent college graduate, I am looking forward to continuing my education with a masters/PhD program. However, in the time between my undergraduate education and my next step, I am looking for a job. I have always enjoyed babysitting and I have been working as a sitter for about ten years now. I was 1st certified with babysitting 1st aid when I was 13, and now I hold a Wilderness 1st Responder (WFA) certification. This certification entails familiarity with a variety of 1st aid procedures, as well as CPR, and care for allergies/asthma. I completed this in the summer of 2012. Aside from this, I have worked with children from infants to ten and 11yr olds. I have worked in situations with 1 to two children at a time, but am comfortable with up to 3 or four at a time. I am also comfortable being with kids with allergies or asthma. Currently, I sit for my godson who is five, my neighbors who have a boy (four) and a girl (eight), and another friend s daughter who is five. Sitting the five-year-old girl is the only regular position; it is once a month for a few hours. As a sitter, I have found that clarity of expectations with the families is the best way to approach any amount of time babysitting. It can help me as a sitter to know the family s policies on playtime, meal times, and discipline. More importantly, it allows the family and me time to get to know each other and be clear about what they are looking for in a sitter. Additionally, I am comfortable with being disciplinary and fun with kids. I understand that there are many ways to discipline kids now and I find it easiest when the parents are clear about how they manage this so that I can follow suit. For fun time, I love to take kids on adventures to the museum, the zoo, or the aquarium (even backyard adventures are good!). My degree was in Environmental Science with an emphasis in Marine Ecology so I especially love the aquarium atmosphere. I love to learn and I love being around curious kids so playing games or going places where learning is part of the day is great. Along with this I would be very happy to help with homework and tutoring. I am also out-going and upbeat! I like to get things done and complete tasks. If the family I was with wanted some house cleaning, laundry, or other errands completed I would gladly take these on. In terms of family pets or animals have worked in situations with lizards, dogs, and cats. I am happy to feed animals, walk them, play with them, and have conversations about child safety around the animals. I also have my own vehicle in terrific condition, an all wheel drive Subaru Forester (08). This vehicle does have car seat capabilities that I have used before. I currently live at home with my mom, so I have a stable living situation. While care giving is not my ultimate career goal, I enjoy it immensely. I take pride in telling parents that their kids did great and had fun while they were gone. I am happy to teach kids something new that they didn t know at the beginning of our time together but more than anything I really love hearing what they have to say. I find that I learn so much from being around children. They are excellent teachers!
