Hi there!My name is Shayna, and I am a part time student finishing both of my degrees at FIDM, with emphases in both Merchandise Marketing and Business Management. I also work part time at a clothing store in Hayes Valley. I have always loved kids, and with my previous experience, babysitting seemed like a good way for me to help pay off some of those nasty student loans!I have been babysitting on a fairly regular basis since I was about fifteen (I am now 22). I am very comfortable with children ages 2 and above, as well as households with multiple children. I also used to volunteer with children at a Jewish youth group in my hometown. I have a basic knowledge and understanding of both Spanish and French. I myself am single and without children, but I do have a small dog named Juno that I recently rescued from the SPCA!Building relationships with children and young adults has always been a source of fulfillment for me, because I think the road to adolescence is a fascinating one. My babysitting style keeps both a sense of humor and endless patience at the forefront. When it comes to dinner, dessert, tv, bedtime, etc., I like to keep in line with Mom and/or Dad's wishes, and I have found that although kids like to test their limits, they do well with routine. Above all, I believe that children deserve and crave respect just as much as adults do, and if given that respect, they will bloom and flourish.The 1 and only thing that is a dealbreaker for me is a cat in the home, and only because I am very allergic. All other pets are kosher!With all of the logistics out of the way, I should assure you that: I am REALLY fun. I swear! I want your kids to enjoy me as much as I enjoy them, so I like to encourage them to do some activities that involve creativity and some imagination, if possible. Tv is great in a pinch, but playing dress-up or making sound effects with action figures is better.If you think I sound like a good fit for your family, I'd love to hear from you.
