JOB SUMMARY: As a Field Service Burner Technician, you will perform service work at client sites on combustion and control systems across a wide variety of industries and applications. The service work performed can be any of the following: installation, trouble shooting, calibration, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs. Your communication skills, flexibility, responsiveness, and technical knowledge is critical in effectively serving our client needs. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Combustion Safety testing (40%) Analyze and problem-solve burner control and electrical issues (40%) Perform point to point checkout, startup, and commissioning on assigned projects (20%) ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Effectively communicate with client's plant personnel Maintain field service reports and expenses Maintain company truck, test equipment, and truck inventory Look for opportunities for upgrades and additional repairs Training support as needed by manager EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: One-year industrial electricity degree and/or 3 years of related work experience Knowledge in electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and some instrumentation Knowledge of industrial mechanics Proficient in multimeter and test equipment Familiar with OSHA 10, MSHA, or NFPA 70e safety rules and regulations is preferred Proficient in pipefitting is also preferred Boiler stationary engineer license or state electricians license a plus PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Excellent interpersonal skills; able to represent BDC in a professional manner Self-motivated Computer savvy with knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel Positive attitude with the ability to adapt in demanding situations Good driving record WORKING CONDITIONS: Able to work in very high and low temp areas Able to work extended hours when needed Ability to bend, climb stairs, and lift over 75 pounds Ability to be on call to work on weekends and holidays as necessary TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Willing and able to travel with overnight stays up to 30-50% in a year's time
