Here at Custom Cut Lumber in Alto, Texas we are buying Cedar saw logs and pulp wood. Custom Cut Lumber has been in business since 2013. We are well known for cutting nearly any kind of lumber the public needs such as beams, siding, oak trailer decking, framing material, flooring, v-joint, fence material, wide rustic slabs and cedar lumber. We are one of the biggest sawmill operations in the area that serves the public. We also cut pallet lumber and industrial wood products. Check us out at www.CustomCutLumberMill.com We have a continual need for cedar logs. We buy different grades of cedar logs. The lowest grade is cedar pulpwood. These need to be relatively straight and have a minimum of 4 inch trunk diameter. Poor quality split or dry rot sawlogs can be put in with this catigory as well. Sawlogs is the second category. Theses should have an 8 inches top size on up. Logs are graded and paid for in relation to size and quality. If you have a good many logs it is best if you seek to compile loads of similar size and grade as 10 inch top and so forth. Even if you are not able to sort the logs we will carefully take note of the different log sizes and quality and pay accordingly. Knot size and how they affect lumber quality, amount of sweep or bends in the trunk, cracks and dry rot are all factored in. We buy delivered logs by the ton weighed on our certified truck scale. Loading a truck or trailer to get maximum weight is often important to keep things flowing trucking cedar economical and satisfactory. A few ways to increase weight is stacking the logs with a mixture of butts and tops on each end to get a boxy square shaped load. Also using maximum height and letting logs stick out past the back of your trailer and using a red flag can be helpful. When hauling with a long trailer two stacks of logs can be best to get most weight. Logs of a short consistent length (8.5 feet to 16 8 or 18 8 ) can be stacked near the front and longer lengths and top wood can be stacked in the second bunker area and left to hang out the back. We buy logs a minimum length of 8 foot 6 inches and will buy them as long as tree length. If logs are light weight and are showing grey aging signs in the white sapwood this generally means they have been sitting for more than 5 months. If this be the case and the wood is still in good condition we can generally pay a bit more to make up for lost weight. We can buy cedar logs that have been sitting for a number of years because the center heart wood doesn t have much trouble with rotting and so lumber can still be cut from the logs. $$$ Contact us and we can discuss current prices. A good option for many is bring in a worthy test load of cedar and let us grade the wood and give you a price on it. We can than speak more about the best way to go about things going forward. We buy cedar 3 different ways. Large or small amounts. = Delivered to our mill. Log truck freight is our #1 way of receiving logs. If this is not an option there can be other ways. Many people have a friend with a truck and trailer of some sort. Gooseneck trailers can be an option for hauling. There are light duty truckers of this sort that can be found. Finding a trucker going through our area who is able to strap down logs on an otherwise empty flat bed or dump trailer back haul can be an option for some. If loaded right, a flat bed could haul 20 tons of logs. = We are able at times to come and pick up the logs or pulp wood at your location (we then pay by the ton, board foot or by the load ). = We are willing to buy mixed loads of cedar logs along with pine, oak or other hardwood. Preferably put cedar on top the load. Price to be determined We also are interested in Walnut, large Pecan, Cypress and Mesquite.
