As a 2nd class petty officer at Naval Base San Diego, I was an Assistant Leading Petty Officer in charge of managing 15 Sailors. My service started in October 2005 at Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 40in Port Hueneme, CA and was stationed there for 2 years and was promoted to 3rd class petty officer as a Construction Electrician. From there I went on to CBMU 202 in Norfolk, VA, there I was promoted to 2nd class petty officer. I worked as a CE for 9 years running wiring and conduit, installed lights in buildings and constructed multiple buildings on and off bases; and I was in charge of installing and maintaining electrical grids for field exercises as well as communication grids. Once promoted to 2nd class petty officer I had the opportunity to go into a leadership role where I was promoted to project crew leader and project safety supervisor. In this role I supervised 30 sailors in day-to-day assignments. As a CE, I deployed 5 times and visited 12 countries where we constructed buildings such as schools and shelters on humanitarian relief efforts. I was transferred to a different rate in 2014 where I became an Electricians Mate and worked on ships electrical systems for the remaining 8 years of my service and went on 1 deployment, totaling to 6 deployments overall in my time as a Sailor. While enlisted I had the pleasure of serving as a Funeral Honor Guard member at a a temporarily assigned duty while in Virginia at Navy Regional Funeral Honor Guard where I performed pall bearing, rifle detail, and flag folding and presenting the National Ensign to the next of kin of 207 deceased service personnel.
