Opposite to the well-known Russian implant Torpedo, Esperal works in an awaiting regimen. The electronic alcohol testing device checks the level of alcohol in patients bloodstream every 15 minutes around the clock. That means that patient s blood is free from Disulfiram, and any expectations of the side effects that this chemical leads to may be dismissed (as impossible). Only when the concentration of the alcohol in a bloodstream rises above the allowed level Esperal-Implant turns on and injects one crystal of dry, highly concentrated Disulfiram into the local capillary system to initiate the disulfiram-ethanol reaction (DER). Once the reaction started, it can t be stopped until its natural completion (approximately 4-6 hours) when the Esperal-Implant switches back to its normal awaiting regimen.
