JOB SUMMARY: Monitor and ensure system reliability. Routinely identify trends and contribute system analytics. Identify and resolve outage and trouble calls from customers. Dispatch appropriate personnel for assessment and/or repairs to power lines. Use all available computer applications to communicate with and provide necessary information to field personnel. Maintain keen attention to detail while focusing on the safety of employees, equipment, and the general public. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Receive and log all calls from phone and radio, from both customers and employees. Keep supervisor informed of all large and/or unusual problems. Maintain an understanding of breaker, IntelliRupter, and recloser functions. Use SCADA to monitor and operate connected protective devices while communicating the status of circuit configuration to field personnel. Adequately determine the correct protective device for field crews during normal and abnormal conditions. Analyze abnormal conditions then communicate information to field crews and on-call supervisor to support root cause analysis. Call and direct field personnel to make reconnection of customer's service. Receive payments made by customers whose service was turned off for non-payment. Maintain contact with BrightRidge on-duty field personnel via telephone and/or radio regarding service orders, outages, customer concerns, etc. Contact BrightRidge customers on behalf of field personnel regarding scheduling, etc. Call in appropriate employees during outages as required and record accordingly . Respond with quick action to emergency situations. Refer calls to other utilities, as needed. Interpret and analyze system infrastructure. Monitor and track asset health. Monitor and operate all computer programs associated with the Control Room such as SCADA, NISC, Tantalus, OMS, and NexTraq. New programs may be added periodically. Monitor BrightRidge electrical system, security cameras, and Broadband network system. Notify appropriate personnel as needed. Ability to maintain reliable, predictable, and reasonable attendance. Perform Tennessee One (811) call procedures. Monitor SCADA DVR dashboard with historical data to determine demand reduction, determine when and how to call an event. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Must maintain a valid driver's license from the state of residence. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Must be available for after-hours work which would include working fair share of all necessary overtime. Create, modify, and analyze data inputs within BrightRidge mapping system. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must have a good geographical knowledge of the area. Must possess good communication skills via the telephone and radio. Must be able to operate a two-way radio. Must possess the ability to remain focused during stressful working conditions Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and all BrightRidge in-house programs used by the Control Room. Must maintain an up-to-date understanding of all BrightRidge mapping systems. Must possess have a keen attention to detail. Must have the ability to interpret one line diagram PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The position requires constant vision and sitting. Frequent handling, talking, hearing, depth perception, and arm/hand machine control operation is required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Provide back-up to other Control Room Operators, 24 hours a day on rotating shifts. Must work on Holidays and weekends. Work is performed in an indoor temperature-controlled office environment with appropriate lighting. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must complete the TVPPA Distribution System Operator course. Minimum A.A.S. preferred in related field such as electrical, computer science, or mapping. One to two years' experience in customer service setting. Two-way radio communications, dispatch experience, & GIS training a plus. Prior experience in camera monitoring and security helpful. Prior experience in mapping is helpful. Prior electrical experienced preferred and may be substituted for education.
